Disposable Contact Lenses
Convenience and Comfort
Disposable contact lenses are seen as the superior option for comfort and wearability, especially compared to past hard lenses and today’s gas permeable lenses. They also allow for some creativity because they are widely available in different colors. With the many options available today, it’s a bit harder to tell what is more suitable for you, but our Chalmette optometrist has made it easier by offering a brief explanation on the major types available to you. However, keep in mind that we will truly know what type of disposable contact lens is best for you after a comprehensive eye exam for contact lenses.
Bi-Weekly and Monthly Contact Lenses
Bi-weekly and monthly disposable lenses require more maintenance than daily disposables so they can last this long. In order to maintain them, you must clean them daily and store them in contact lens solution. While they last longer, they are also more affordable because less materials are used in their production and you don’t have to buy them as often. These disposable contact lenses also offer the possibility of 30-day wear, day and night.
Daily Disposable Contact Lenses
Daily contact lenses are a bit more expensive, but they are becoming more popular these days because our Chalmette patients don’t have to worry about extensive cleaning and storing, saving them a lot of time without sacrificing clarity. When it comes to wearing disposable contact lenses, you are far less likely to develop eye infections than you would be when wearing bi-weekly or monthly contact lenses. This is simply because you no longer run the risk of cosmetic products depositing on the lenses.
Our patients who suffer from Presbyopia usually need bi-weekly or monthly contacts, but more options are beginning to emerge on the market to allow for greater flexibility and clarity. For more information on disposable contact lenses, please schedule an appointment with our Chalmette optometrist.
